Children and Adolecents

At present a compelling body of scientific evidence supports participation in appropriately designed youth resistance training programmes that are supervised and instructed by qualified professionals. Physical activity can be active transport to school, play and exploration of surroundings and nature on breaks as well as by spontaneous or organized sports and exercise. In order to promote physical and mental health as well as physical capacity during the growing years, and possibly affecting future health and reducing the risk of developing certain chronic diseases in adulthood.

 

Recommendations and Benefits 

All children and adolescents are recommended a total of at least 60 minutes of daily physical activity. The physical activity should be of predominantly aerobic character and the intensity moderate to high. Moderate intensity gives a certain increase in pulse and respiration, while high intensity gives a significant increase in pulse and breathing. Aerobic physical activity at high intensity should be included at least three times a week. Muscle strengthening and skeletal strengthening activities should be included at least three times a week. Such activities can be performed as a part in play, running and jumping.
